Google PageRank ?
Google search engine | September 6th, 2007 | 4 CommentsIt has been awhile since the last pagerank update predicted in the end of July or the beginning of August. Than a pagerank dance happened as well, sites with PageRank N/A received a 0, backlinks got updated..but we got no track about the final update of the PageRank and we are already in September.
At the beginning of August (more precise 9th of August) the big question showed up, google removing pagerank score ?. The talk on webmasterworld forums and the intervention of Adam Lasnik made this rumor to become a small sound.
Today i hear a whole music to be honest (my sincere opinion, not based on any facts), its 5th of September and we have had yet to see a site with updated PageRank. We know that PageRank is Google’s heart so i would like to clear up. There has been a big misunderstanding on this argument and many webmasters have interpreted the rumor as like Google was going to remove the pagerank, which is not true. What Google’s intention is (or at least seem to be according to thread talk on webmasterworld) to remove the PageRank score, to be more clear, to stop showing the PageRank in public.
Why that move on Google’s side? Its pretty clear, since 2004 Google search engine is trying to some how stop the link sales and their last attempt to intimidate the link sellers with Google penalization on SERPs and on PageRank seems to not work actually, since the sellers and buyers of text link ads are not feeling intimidate at all. The whole goal of stopping the link sales is not because people make money online by selling text link ads, its more about that they trick the Google algorithm.
But back to the question, honestly where is Google PageRank? did it got lost its way to the update or maybe we should be asking who stole the Google PageRank Score?. I am afraid these questions will remain a mystery for SEO Optimization and for many others, unless we see a PageRank update in the near feature or we read a public statement by Google search engine representatives in regard to Google PageRank.
Update: Matt Cutts on DigitalPoint forums comments on PageRank Update the next:
As far as the toolbar PageRank, I definitely wouldn’t expect to see it in the next few days. Probably not even in the next couple weeks, if I had to guess.
I think anyone who started blogging within the last few months is anxiously waiting for Google to get this done. You’d think that since this is such a huge deal on the web that they would make sure to have a monthly update.
Not only those that started blogging or build a website within the past months are awaiting for the update, but even those that already to have a pagerank and have worked (build) hard to raise their PR.
On the forums, there is like at least 1 thread about pagerank every day and at least 10 posts a day, all in the pagerank topic. It is kinda becoming annoying to read all those PR posts nowadays.
All what i wish is that Google gives a public statement and puts end to this talk.
yes there are a lot of blogs that have been working hard for the last couple of months and becoming quite popular, but without a pagerank. A lot of advertisers want a decent PR so it could be affecting peoples blogging income.
My main site and SEO Blog has just started getting Page Rank on the 27th of September. I don’t think that Google should stop make Page Rank Public because I think that Webmaster need a way to measure how importent their website is becoming. With out Page rank things would become even more of a Mess!
