Surprise for PageRank Lovers

Google search engine | February 29th, 2008 | 6 Comments

Surprise surprise my PageRank lover folks, the pagerank update has started and we can already see changes on new site PR. As always the pagerank update first stage is on new sites, or rather on sites that have PageRank 0 or N/A and then slowly datacenters show update for established sites.

It’s weird but true, if you have a new site and have worked hard (read, building backlinks) to your site then you will most likely get a PR of 3 or even 4 but the hard part will come when the next PageRank update is going to happen when you have to maintain that pagerank and not forget about building backlinks (unless you are a master of viral marketing and link bait).

This page rank update was not expected actually, considering that the Q1 2008 PageRank update was on 12 January but it took lifetime to get updated. Maybe Google is trying to get back to schedule and hence this Page Rank update came out so early.

Consider this post as “remind me to check my PR” and also “let me report my pagerank update of Q2). Comment bellow on how your sites are performing with this Q2 PageRank update of 2008. As far as it regards SEO Optimization I have no clue whats the pagerank going to be as I have not worked on that already for awhile.

Hi Astrit – I went back up to a three. You know, I’m wondering if I’d go up to a 4 if I removed links to John Chow. What do you think?

  4. Haha Amelie 😉

Hi Cath, first of all, good to see you are rolling under a new design ;). Linking out to other sites in some way it does spread out the pagerank power your site has, but definitively it does not make you lose PR or decrease your PR. What increases pagerank is backlinks from other websites with high PageRank.

Good thing you moved up 😉 congrats.

  5. I moved up to a pr2. I thought i would get a but more, but o well.

We’ve just had another PR update. Oh the ups and downs of it all! The internet world holds its collective breath whenever these updates take place, as you can never be assured of where it will go!
