When to publish articles
SEO Tutorials | October 6th, 2007 | 5 CommentsMany bloggers that are not addicted to traffic and don’t analyze their web blog on daily basis (and i analyze it few times a day in determined periods of the day) don’t know much about their blog, and don’t know how search engines treat your blog.
If you are aware of the Google dance effect than you will know how to take advantage of this. For those that don’t know what Google dance is let me explain in few words, the Google dance is the moment when Google takes a new published webpage and ranks it randomly on the SERPs for determined keywords, once Google analyzes better the new page it places it back to its determined page on the SERPs. Usually pages that taste the Google dance effect end up on the first page of the SERPs than slowly they get back to their original position which could be second page of the SERPs or even 50th page of the SERPs.
You could take a week or so if you are blogging daily and publish your articles on different hours each day, closely monitor this. It might take even more than just a week, it could take even 2 to 3 weeks to understand better on which days at what hour you should publish what you wrote to get the maximum juice of traffic during the Google dance. If you have a regular job and you think you can’t make this experiment because your work keeps you away from your blog than you are wrong and most probably you haven’t read about wordpress and timestamp.
I have experienced on this blog that I get the maximum traffic during the Google dance between 18:00 and 19:30, whenever I publish a post anytime that hours I experience that lovely organic targeted traffic. Note tho that is differs between niches and also differs on the country traffic that you are targeting.
Once you have made your experiment you will know at what time of the day your blog gets the traffic of the SERPs dancing and at which days it works best.
Know more about your traffic
If you take a close lookup of your traffic analytics you will see where the most of your visitors come from, than you will have to figure out at what time of the day the visitors sit in front of their computer. Lets say you target middle age visitors which usually get online after their working hours, you should publish your post during that hour when they are home and sitting in front of their computer.
Make your blog into a experimental lab, don’t be afraid, the more you experiment the more you will learn, new tips, new tecniques, every single day. Give it a try and later come here and let me know how did your experiment finished.

I like what you say about experimenting with your blog. It’s not rocket science, so why not have some fun along the way?
In the past I have heard how the time of the post can make a difference, but haven’t experimented with that yet. I’m going to have to give that a try.
I find that interesting how you got your time pinpointed to a 90 minute timespan.
Hello Barbara and thanks for stopping by.
Of course it matters, you have probably heard about the Google dance (the experiment performed best with Google), it is that point when a new article is published in your blog and the spider bot gets pinged (with ping you let know that there is a new content to be crawled) than Google takes your site and randomly ranks it somewhere high in the SERPs, this does not last for long enough and hence the article should be published like 30-90 minutes before the major part of people that are interested about your niche get online. I have experimented this in different occasion and the timing is different for each topic.
Just keep experimenting on your own skin (make sure not to do harmful things tho) and you will learn more (but will take longer) than any other book would teach you. This is the whole point of this blog “You can do it too”
